Renovate or Rebuild: A Sustainable Solution for Energy-Efficient Homes

Smart Energy Answers had a great opportunity to film alongside the amazing duo Deb and Andy last week. We’re so excited to see what this team will bring to the competition on Renovate or Rebuild – Stay tuned for the exciting episode - coming soon on 9life!

With the help of design experts such as Deb and Andy, from the block, families have the amazing opportunity to turn their regular homes into smart homes through either renovating or rebuilding! 

Renovate or Rebuild is a 60-minute lifestyle show where two teams compete to convince a family that they have the best solution to providing more space, comfort and reduced energy bills. Team Renovate believe the family should renovate their existing home, while Team Rebuild think the family should knock down and rebuild.

In each episode you are taken on a journey through the design process as the teams juggle the challenges of meeting the clients brief and budget whilst aiming to create an amazing design for a home that is healthy, comfortable and efficient.

The two solutions are judged by an expert panel on style, sustainability, and cost but ultimately the decision will come down to the family - will they renovate or rebuild?

To kick this concept off, Energy Matters has been working in partnership with a Channel 9 Life show, Renovate or Rebuild, watch the trailer here Renovate or Rebuild, with the aim of driving sustainable housing across Australia. 

This project includes a working relationship with the NSW Government, CSIRO, Sustainability Victoria, The Commonwealth Government, Green Building Council, HIA, MBA, ASBEC and a variety of others to develop a mass media communications strategy promoting the show, the partners & technology included to help homeowners make better choices for their homes and achieve a net-zero outcome.
